On the eve of another hectic day, a group of men came to our hut where I was mending broken nets. I could see the fear and anger in my uncle’s eyes, the man who had always forced me to work beyond my capacity. These men were my saviors, rescuing me from experiences that could have ended my life.
I was just a little boy when my uncle took me from our village to Lake Volta. He promised school, care, and a life like the other children I believed were my cousins. I was excited, dreaming of becoming the soldier I always wanted to be.
Instead, I was forced to work as a fisherboy from the age of eight, mending nets, casting and smoking fish, selling them, and paddling until my saviors from Challenging Heights arrived. They rescued me and other children, bringing us to a safe haven where all our needs are met. We are fed, clothed, educated, and happy.
Without them, I could have perished on the lake. This rescue and the brighter future it has given me was made possible by the support of people like you. Your support changes lives.
Thank you for creating a lasting impact !
