Challenging Heights is deeply concerned about a case involving a three-year-old girl who suffered severe abuse after her stepmother poured hot water on her private parts as punishment for bedwetting.
No child should ever endure such cruelty. Abuse is never discipline.
We call on the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU), the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of the Ghana Police Service, and the Department of Social Welfare to take swift action to ensure the perpetrator is arrested and prosecuted.
In addition to advocacy, Challenging Heights has provided support to the child and her family, including assistance with medical expenses to aid her recovery.
Children deserve protection, safety, and care, not pain. We urge everyone to stand together to protect the rights and wellbeing of every child.
