Call for National Service Personnel

CHALLENGING HEIGHTS Protecting children from trafficking, labour and exploitation

2026/2027 National Service Year   ·   Communications & Knowledge Management   ·   Deadline: 31 July 2026

Challenging Heights invites applications from graduates of any recognised Ghanaian university to undertake their national service with us during the 2026/2027 service year. Some personnel will be based at our head office in Accra, and others in their own home communities across the areas where we work.

General Terms

Allowance: The monthly national service allowance, as approved by the Government of Ghana.
Transport: Reasonable transport costs are covered for approved travel — to the field for Accra-based staff, and to the Head Office for community-based staff.

Who We Are Looking For

Category A — Media & Documentation  (Accra-based)

For graduates who studied photography, videography or editing — and those able to transcribe and translate from Fante or Twi into English. Based at our head office in Accra, working partly on our podcast, The Development Voice, and partly in the field.

Applicants must already reside in Accra — accommodation is not provided.

Category B — Field Data Collection  (community-based)

For graduates who studied the social sciences or business. Based in your own home community, collecting data in the field and supporting some of our social work, with only occasional travel to the Head Office in Accra. Applicants should reside in one of the following:

  1. A town or village near Lake Volta — familiar with the fishing activities on the Lake.
  2. A fishing community along the coast — for example Ningo, Ada, Bartor, Senya, Winneba, Dago or Apam, among others — where women and children move to and from Lake Volta for work and trading.
  3. A mining town or village where illegal mining (galamsey) is prevalent — familiar with the mining activities in the area.

Eligibility

  • A graduate of any recognised Ghanaian university.
  • Eligible and registered for national service in the 2026/2027 service year (National Service Authority).
  • A field of study relevant to Category A or Category B, as described above.
