Challenging Heights is a proud member of the global citizen’s movement to end child slavery, but as a grassroots organisation in Ghana, we cannot end this practice alone. Thousands of people around the world have joined the Challenging Heights family, and we invite you to join us in our important work by becoming a Partner in Development. Our Partners in Development Programme is influenced by the concept of “Fair Trade Learning,” whereby we provide meaningful, needs-led opportunities for our Partners in Development.
We strive to provide well-rounded and varied options here and abroad. Over the years our Partners have: tutored underprivileged children at school, raised thousands of dollars for our programmes, painted our rehabilitation shelter, filmed documentary footage, and provided play therapy to rescued children in our shelter—among many other valuable things. While visiting us in Ghana, Partners have also visited historic slave trading forts, walked rainforest canopy rope bridges, and enjoyed some of the country’s many beaches and national parks.
Opportunities in Ghana
We offer various Ghana-based options from day visits to six month internships—all designed to equip visitors with the knowledge to return home and advocate for Challenging Heights and the children we serve. Our all-inclusive Ambassadors Programme provides a relaxed and enjoyable experience for those who prefer the comfort and security of a fully guided experience, while our Advocates Programme provides hands-on learning and service with hands-off opportunities for independent exploration. We seek highly skilled professionals for volunteerism as well as students and recent graduates for internships. See our Ghana Opportunities page for details.
Opportunities in your own country
If you are unable to come to Ghana, you can still help fight trafficking from home by donating, fundraising, or spreading the word. Check out our overseas opportunities page for ideas on all these options.
We occasionally have openings for long-term staff positions which can be found on our employment page and Idealist.org.
