Challenging Heights Joins National Celebration Against Child Labour in Bibiani...
On a powerful day dedicated to protecting children’s rights, Challenging Heights proudly took part in the National Day of Celebration Against Child Labour, held in Bibiani, located in Ghana’s Western North Region. The event, spearheaded by the Child Labour Unit of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Relations, brought together government officials, development partners, civil society organizations, traditional authorities, and community members—each united by a common goal: to end child labour in Ghana.
This year’s theme, “Progress is clear, but there’s more to do: let’s speed up!”, was a powerful reminder that while strides have been made in the fight against child labour, the journey is far from over. The Child Labour Unit emphasized its goal to declare some communities in Ghana completely child labour-free—but they also highlighted a critical truth: lasting change requires collective responsibility. In their keynote remarks, the Child Labour Unit called on chiefs, traditional leaders, religious authorities, and entire communities to be at the forefront of this movement. The fight against child labour cannot be left to institutions alone. It must become a community-driven commitment to protect children’s rights and ensure their access to education, freedom, and safety.
As an organization that has spent nearly two decades fighting child trafficking and labour, Challenging Heights was honored to stand alongside partners and changemakers at this event. Our participation reflects our unwavering commitment to:
Advocating for policies that protect children,
Raising awareness at the community level, and
Empowering families and local leaders to take action.
We believe that by working together—community by community—we can speed up progress and end child labour in our lifetime.
The celebration in Bibiani wasn’t just an event. It was a call to action. A reminder that every child deserves to grow up free from exploitation, in a safe environment where they can dream and thrive. At Challenging Heights, we remain committed to this mission. And we invite you—our supporters, partners, and fellow advocates—to join us in this crucial work.
Let’s speed up the progress. Let’s protect every child!
